Smith, Wood, Long Earn Softball GLVC, D2CAA Honors

Cassie Smith has been named to the All-GLVC First Team and D2CCA All-Region Second Team, Emily Wood earned All-GLVC Third Team recognition, and Jayda Long was selected as the program's GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship honoree.

Smith, a senior outfielder, led the GLVC in both batting average (.488) and hits (81) across 52 games. She also posted 15 doubles, four triples, two home runs and 25 RBI while swiping 28 bases on 31 attempts. Smith finishes her Truman career as one of the program's most decorated offensive players and is now a three-time All-GLVC player. The D2CCA Second Team honor adds a second piece of postseason hardware from a separate national body, recognizing Smith among the region's elite for the second straight time in the same week.

Wood, a senior outfielder, hit .319 with 51 hits, 10 doubles, four triples, seven home runs and 25 RBI in 52 games. She scored 41 runs on the year and stole 17 bases, earning her a spot on the All-GLVC Third Team in her final season. This also marks her third time earning an All-GLVC designation.

Long, a junior pitcher, earned the Spalding Sportsmanship honor after a standout year both on and off the field. On the mound, she went 9-10 with a 2.86 ERA across 117.1 innings, posting two complete game shutouts and recording 48 strikeouts.
