Buford Named GLVC Player of the Week
Shanna Buford, a sophomore infielder, was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week.
It is the first career Player of the Week honor for Buford, a native of Donnellson, Iowa majoring in agricultural science. She was dominant at the plate as the Bulldogs closed out the 2025-26 season with a pair of doubleheaders, going 4-for-7 with a walk across the four games for a .571 batting average and .625 on-base percentage. She slugged two home runs for a 1.429 slugging percentage, drove in six runs and scored five times herself.
Buford’s most successful performance came in the second game of the doubleheader at Maryville, May 3, where she went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs, three runs scored and a stolen base to help Truman close the season with an 8-1 victory. She also hit a three-run home run in the second game at the University of Missouri–St. Louis, May 2, with a hit to left-center field that capped a 10-3 Bulldog win.
Buford is the first Truman player to earn the weekly honor since Nina Fenasci took home the award April 8, 2025.
