Hospice Sponsors Workshop and Grief Support Group
Hospice of Northeast Missouri will host a workshop on creative ways to cope with loss from 10 a.m.- 12 p.m. March 25 at the First United Methodist Church located at 300 East Washington St. The workshop will be hosted by Carrol Davenport, spiritual care and bereavement coordinator of Hospice of Northeast Missouri, and Monica Barron, Hospice volunteer. There is no charge for the seminar, but advanced registration is required. To register for the event, call 660.627.9711.
Hospice will also offer a six-week grief support group for anyone who has experienced the death of a loved one. Topics will include understanding the grief process, personal loss history and its impact on the grief process, distinguishing between grief and mourning, dealing with insensitive people, grief’s impact on a family system, self-care and observing special occasions and the holidays. Group facilitators are John Bambrick, chaplain and social worker, and Carrol Davenport, spiritual care and bereavement coordinator. Sessions will take place from 5:30-6:30 p.m., March 29, April 5, 12, 19, 26 and May 3, at 201 S. Baltimore Street.
