Truman Receives National Attention
For the 17th year in a row, Truman has been recognized as the No. 1 Public University in the Midwest Regional category by U.S. News & World Report.
This recognition comes from the newly released U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Colleges 2014” guidebook. Truman is also ranked No. 5 in the “A Strong Commitment to Teaching” section, where the University was one of only six schools in the Midwest Region to be listed.
Additionally, Truman earned the No. 8 spot in the region in the “Great Schools at Great Prices” section. Of the 15 schools listed, Truman was the only public institution. Truman is also ranked 10th overall in the Midwest Regional category among both private and public institutions that provide a full range of undergraduate and master’s programs.
In the 2013 Washington Monthly College Rankings, Truman earned the No. 3 spot in the Master’s University category. Truman is the only Missouri school listed in the top 75, and the only public Missouri school in the entire Top 100 Master’s Universities list.
Kiplinger’s Personal Finance has recognized Truman as one of the nation’s best values in public education. Truman ranked No. 19 on Kiplinger’s list of the 100 “Best Values in Public Colleges.” Truman is highlighted further in the main article as a school that has traditionally landed in the top third of the rankings each year due to strong academics and an affordable price.
Truman is the only Missouri school, and one of only 48 schools nationally, to be recognized as a College of Distinction in the Public Colleges of Distinction 2013-14 eGuidebook. A College of Distinction is: nationally recognized by education professionals as an excellent school; strongly focused on teaching undergraduates; home to a wide variety of innovative learning experiences; an active campus with many opportunities for personal development; and highly valued by graduate schools and employers for its outstanding preparation.
