Family Day Scheduled for Sept. 19, 2009

Truman State University’s annual Family Day is scheduled for Sept. 19, 2009.

Family Day provides families the opportunity to visit the Truman campus and check up on what has been happening with their Truman student during the first few weeks. The tentative schedule below shows that Family Day offers a variety of activities. Families are encouraged to choose what they are interested in and come and go as they please.

A detailed Family Day brochure will be mailed out the end of August. Family Day information will also be available on the Truman website at http://www.truman.edu/pages/172.asp.

Finding a Hotel Room for Family Day
When it comes to large events it is sometimes difficult, if not impossible, to find a hotel room in Kirksville. This is because Kirksville has only about 400 hotel rooms and Truman enrolls about 5,800 students. Parents of new students often end up staying at a hotel outside of Kirksville because the upperclassmen have already booked the rooms. With this in mind, Truman has created a website which provides the names and phone numbers of the hotels in surrounding towns. More information about surrounding accommodations is available at http://www.truman.edu/pages/105.asp?category=16.
