Missey Selected Second Team All-GLVC

Holden Missey was voted second team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference baseball by league coaches and the Bulldog baseball team was recognized for the seventh time out of 10 GLVC seasons with the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship award.

Missey was selected on the team as a utility player after playing and starting in all 50 games and posting a 6-5 pitching record with 12 starts. Offensively for the season, Missey led the Bulldogs with a .353 batting average and a 1.034 on-base plus slugging percentage. He hit seven home runs with 40 RBI to go along with 15 doubles.

On the mound, Missey tied for fifth-most single-season wins with six as he threw more than 55 innings with a 6.99 ERA and had the staff’s only complete game coming in the final weekend of the regular season.

Missey will leave his mark on the Bulldog record book as he took over the top spots in both career home runs with 35 and doubles with 49 while tying for the RBI career lead with 129 in 194 games played. He was second in hits with 224, tied for second in runs scored with 133 and fourth in career batting at .341. His eight pitching saves accumulated in his first three years as a Bulldog rank third all-time.

As a team in 2023, the Bulldogs finished second in school single-season team rankings with 293 runs scored, 39 home runs, 272 RBI, 206 walks drawn and, on the pitching side, 313 total strikeouts.

Head coach Dan Davis surpassed Sam Nugget for first on the all-time coaching wins list at Truman during the seaso, and in the final weekend he achieved career victory 250.

Missey was a first team All-GLVC honoree as a junior and was also selected to a pair of all-region teams. In addition, Missey was the team’s choice for the Spalding Sportsmanship individual award, while the team was selected for their third-straight and seventh overall team sportsmanship award.
