Rotary District Conference Set for Kirksville
Rotary District 6040 will conduct their District Conference and Celebration in Kirksville, Oct. 16-17 on the Truman campus. District Governor Ralph Cupelli, a member of the Rotary Club of Kirksville (Noon Club), will preside over the conference and celebration, while Dale Schenewerk, from the same club, serves as the conference planning committee chairman.
Kirksville has hosted a Rotary District 6040 Conference only four other times in the years of 1928, 1940, 1970 and 2011. The planning committee is expecting more than 250 Rotarians from across the northern parts of Missouri from Kansas City area to the Iowa/Illinois borders to converge on Kirksville late Thursday afternoon through Saturday night.
Some of the conference’s featured speakers include: University President Troy Paino; Ray Klinginsmith, Rotary International Foundation Chairman; Jennifer Jones, Rotary International Director; Tom Thorfinnson, Rotary International Foundation Trustee; and Kathryn Fahy, Rotary International President’s Representative.
Rotarians and their guests will have a variety of workshops they can attend throughout the conference as well as hands-on service projects. The Conference’s service projects include Buddy Packs and Days for Girls. Rotary Clubs from across the district will be recognized for their achievements on Friday night at a banquet while the Saturday evening banquet and awards presentations will recognize Club Champions from the clubs across the District.
