Ruck Event Benefits Food Pantry
The Student Association of Military Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (SAMOPS) will host the first annual “Still Ruckin” fundraiser at 11 a.m. March 28 at the Rainbow Basin Trailhead at Thousand Hills State Park.
The competitive rucking event is supporting the Kirksville Food Pantry and the SAMOPS club. The event is open to all students, employees and Kirksville community members. Participants will complete a 5.6-mile ruck while carrying a backpack weighing approximately 28 pounds.
The weight is part of the challenge and reflects the spirit behind the event — embracing a little hardship to support those who need it most. Weights will be provided by SAMOPS. Participants must bring their own backpack. Packs with hip straps are recommended for comfort during the ruck.
Registration is $20 for an individual or $45 for a three-person team. While participants can sign up individually, SAMOPS will assign each person to a team before the start of the ruck. Signups can be completed at atsu.edu/still-ruckin.
