Truman softball sophomores Cassie Smith and Emily Wood were voted on to the Great Lakes Valley Conference all-softball teams by league coaches. Smith was a first-team selection as a utility player, and Wood was picked as a second-team outfielder.

Smith led the Bulldogs in conference games with a .356 batting average and stole 14 bases out of 16 attempts in 24 league games. Overall, Smith hit .336 in 48 games played with six doubles, a home run and 17 runs batted in. She was 29-of-33 in stolen bases, which does crack the Bulldog single-season stolen base top 10 list. Smith is the Bulldogs’ first, first-team selection in three seasons.

Wood played and started in all 50 games and led the team in average, doubles, triples, home runs and runs batted in. She hit .373 with 12 doubles, five triples, eight home runs and also swiped 22 bases. In conference games, she was the only Bulldog with double-digit RBIs with 21.

Nina Fenasci was chosen as the Bulldogs representative on the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship honoree list.
