The Green Thumb Project and Take Root Café are hosting a benefit dinner Oct. 30 at Pickler’s Famous.

Catered by local foods chef Jessica Parks of Take Root Café, the first course will feature butternut squash soup with homemade bread; the main entrée will include local cooked greens, roasted sweet potatoes with black beans and choice of baked chicken or vegetarian/vegan lasagna; and there will be apple crisp for dessert. The dinner includes multiple bands from Truman and Truman alumni.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., music begins at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 dollars for students and $25 for non-students, and can be purchased at the Kirksville High School office or Edna Campbells Bookstore.

The Green Thumb Project is a local nonprofit that exists to educate the community and Kirksville about nutrition, gardening and many other topics related to local foods.
