World War I Film Series Presents “Joyeux Noel”

To help commemorate the centennial of World War I, the Truman History Department will host a viewing of "Joyeux Noel," the second picture in its World War I Film Series on 7 p.m., Oct. 8 in Baldwin Hall Little Theater.

Released in 2005, it tells the incredible story of the 1914 “Christmas Truce” along the Western Front — a day when soldiers from both sides of the line put down their weapons to greet their enemy in “no man’s land.” This unauthorized truce remains one of the most extraordinary moments of the war. The film tells the story from the perspectives of both sides of the conflict.
