Irving Named GLVC Offensive Player of the Week
Sophomore running back Madden Irving has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference/Athletic Solutions Offensive Player of the Week.
The award follows Irving’s performance in the Bulldogs' 29-27 victory at Indianapolis. He recorded 158 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries, averaging 6.3 yards per attempt. He also caught a 75-yard touchdown pass and finished with 233 all-purpose yards as Truman defeated the University of Indianapolis for the second time in program history and the first time since 2016.
All three of Irving's touchdowns came during the second half. He scored on runs of 14 yards and one yard before turning a screen pass from Dylan Hair into a 75-yard touchdown that gave Truman a 29-20 advantage with 11:42 remaining.
After Indianapolis pulled within two points, Irving helped the Bulldogs keep the ball for the final eight minutes. Truman ran 14 consecutive rushing plays on the closing possession, with Irving converting four first downs as the Bulldogs exhausted the remaining time.
The honor is the first GLVC Offensive Player of the Week award of Irving's career.
