Customizing your TruView page

gmarsh.jpg If you're like many people, you have a few websites that you check often to catch up on news, get your daily comic strip, check sports scores or the weather. Why not use TruView, Truman's campus portal, to bring all this content together in one place?

It is very easy to customize your TruView layout to include content that is important to you. TruView uses a system of tabs and channels to display content from various sources, and we have set up some of the content for you by default. But you can add your own tabs with your own channels, or you can add channels to the tabs that are already set up.

Follow the directions below to add or remove channels from your layout. Not all sites allow their content to be syndicated in this manner, but more and more are adding that capability every day. You can find a complete list at http://pipe.truman.edu/twoc/channellist.asp. And if you can't find what you're looking for, send an email to truview@truman.edu and we'll try to add it.

Adding a Channel

  1. Log into TruView
  2. Click on the Content/Layout link in the upper left-hand corner
  3. Select the tab to which you wish to add a channel by clicking on the tab name (see the instructions below if you wish to add a new tab)
  4. Click the Add Channel button in the desired location
  5. Select a channel category, or choose Select All, then click go
  6. Select a channel, then click Add Channel
  7. You may repeat steps 3-6 to add additional channels, or click the back to MyView Tab link in the upper left-hand corner

Adding a Tab

  1. Log into TruView
  2. Click on the Content/Layout link in the upper left-hand corner

    • Select a position for the tab - choose the radio button that corresponds to where you want the tab located in relation to the other tabs and click Submit
  5. Your new tab will be created according to your specifications. You may now add channels if it is a traditional tab (see above)
