New McNair Program Alumni Headed to Graduate School


Since its inception in 1992, the McNair Program at Truman, which is designed to prepare students from underrepresented backgrounds for entry into graduate school with the ultimate goal of obtaining a Ph.D., has produced 37 Ph.D. recipients, with another 31 currently enrolled, and 171 master’s degree recipients, with 25 currently enrolled. The nine McNair Scholars that graduated May 10 include:

Analia Albuja earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and will begin the Ph.D. program in social psychology at Rutgers University this fall.

Briana Bonner received a Bachelor of Science degree in health science and will start the joint master of occupational therapy/master of public health program at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Megan Hohenstein earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and will begin the Master of Arts in Education program in research and evaluation methodology at the University of Florida.

David Hutchinson received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and will start the Ph.D. in history program at the University of Michigan.

Randall Miller earned a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and is applying to graduate programs in industrial/organizational psychology.

Louise Strickland received a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication disorders and will begin a master’s program in education at one of the four institutions to which she has been accepted.

Alexis Morris earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and will start the Ph.D. program in chemistry at the University of North Texas.

Miquela Taffa earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and will begin the joint master of social work/master of public health program at Washington University in St. Louis.

Kylie Warner earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication disorders and will begin the Master of Arts degree in communications disorders at Truman this fall.
