Addie Mathis and Lexy Henrikson both eclipsed their school records as the Truman track and field teams sent athletes to Grand Valley (Mich) State and Pittsburg (Kan.) State for weekend meets, Feb. 14-15.

Mathis took two seconds off her record time in the 800-meter run. She went 2:10.40 to move up to 20th on the Division II performance list and claim the top spot on the Great Lakes Valley Conference list. She finished 11th in the race. Her previous record was 2:12.11.

Henrikson went 4:54.57 in the mile at Grand Valley State and improved her time by more than a second, that was established last weekend. She is 40th in Division II and third in the GLVC rankings for the mile.

A third record fell in Grand Valley as the women’s distance medley relay team of Mathis, Raina Baker, Phoebe Canatsey and Henrikson shattered the previous mark set last year at conference. The team ran 11:36.69, more than 20 seconds better that the time of 11:57.11 set last season. Mathis, Baker and Henrikson were members of that squad.

In addition to the records, 10 other Bulldog women achieved personal best marks this weekend. Kate Doyle broke the 11-minute barrier in the 3000-meter run (10:55.21), Kayla Perez went 9.91 in the 60-meter hurdles. Destiny Zimdars threw the weight 16.19 meters, while the rest of the PRs came in either the 800 or mile runs – in the 800, Baker (2:15.07), Jocelyn Dorsey (2:22.08) and Kendra Zeilstra (2:22.65), while in the mile, Canatsey (5:05.87), McKenna Ledgerwood (5:20.45), Clare Stahr (5:14.90) and Sarah Williams (5:12.61).

Carmen Gentilia had the highest finish of any Bulldog this weekend with a third in the open 800 at Pittsburg State (2:18.75).

Jacob Gutzman shaved nearly 15 seconds off his personal best time in the 5000-meter run in Allendale. Gutzman finished fourth in his race with a time of 15:26.45, bettering his previous clocking of 15:42.67.

In Pittsburg, Nolan Meara, Hayden Long and Gavin Hill set new PRs. Meara ran 8:54.87 in the 3,000-meter run, Long broke the nine-second mark in the 60-meter hurdles (8.85) and Hill ran 4:19.64 in the mile.

The Bulldogs have just one more indoor meet prior to the conference. It will be Feb. 21 at the Hilltop Classic at Illinois College.
