Weltha Named GLVC Women’s Basketball Player of The Week

Ellie Weltha was selected as the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week for Women’s Basketball after averaging 23.6 points and 9.6 rebounds in the Bulldogs 2-1 week.

Weltha scored 19 with seven rebounds in the Bulldogs only loss of the week against No. 3 Ashland, Ohio, where the team fell behind by 21 points but closed and got to within five late in the fourth quarter. The next day, Weltha picked up her 25th career double-double with 23 points and 14 rebounds in the Bulldogs 70-63 victory over Cedarville, Ohio. The 14 rebounds were a high mark this season.

Weltha matched her career-high point total with 29 points, 19 coming in the first half as Truman downed McKendree 79-72, Nov. 26. For the week, Weltha shot 56% from the field, 46% from outside and 75% from the free throw line while adding four assists and four steals.

It is Weltha’s second GLVC weekly award after earning the honor following games played in November of last season.
