Orton to Give Phi Beta Kappa Lecture
Brent Orton, lecturer in English, will give the 17th annual Phi Beta Kappa Alumni Association of Northeast Missouri Lecture at 7 p.m. May 1 in Ophelia Parrish 2210.
He will speak about “Uncertain of Grace: Aesthetics Versus Ethics in the Concerned Photography of Sebastiaõ Salgado.”
Orton has been teaching at Truman since 2001 and specializes in and teaches critical theory, world literature and The Faust Tradition, a JINS course.
Previous local speakers include Jack Magruder, the Rev. Wallace Caldwell, the Rev. John Dungan, Lewis Binford and Joseph Benevento.
