Cancer Remembrance Walk and Trivia Night

Join for an evening of remembrance , community, and impact. All proceeds support breast cancer research through Pink Fund. The Cancer Remembrance Walk begins at 6 p.m. Attendees will walk together around the Downtown Kirksville Square to honor those lost, celebrate survivors and stand in strength as a community. Feel free to make a poster, create a shirt or bring something to honor someone. Trivia Night begins at 7 p.m. at The Press Room. karaoke and open mic to follow. This event is free to attend, and donations are encouraged. All proceeds support the non profit The Pink Fund.

A spring time tradition returns with A Tea to Remember. Join for a delightful afternoon of delicious food, great conversation and beautiful tablescapes. Hosting tables this year will be: Rebeca Kondi, Nancy Belfield, Dwight Buckingham, Janie Theobald, Joanne Jackson, Julia Edgar, Linda Eichor, Amber Ratcliff, Zac Burden, Sarah Topp and Linda Treasure. Tickets are available at the Sue Ross Arts Center 215 S. Franklin in Kirksville. All proceeds benefit the Kirksville Arts Association.

Chariton Valley Association and Adair County MU Extension are partnering to offer a free community activity, Its a Basil Good Time. Jennifer Schutter, field specialist in horticulture, will share the basics of beginning gardening and all registered participants will plant basil to take home for their own gardens. The event begins with a 150-yard swim at the Truman Natatorium, followed by a nine-mile bike ride that consists of two loops on the city streets in Kirksville and ends with a 2.4 mile run on mostly sidewalks through and around the edge of campus. Birding for Beginners

Join staff at Thousand Hills State Park to learn some basic birding skills and enjoy a leisurely hike. Meet at the Beach Shelter at 8 a.m. This birding hike will take place on a section of Carolyn Bagley Harding Trail. This trail has a paved surface and is accessible to wheelchairs and strollers. Participants are encouraged to wear closed-toe shoes and should consider bringing binoculars, field guides and cameras. Birding for beginners is free and open to the public, and there is no need to register. This event is subject to cancellation due to inclement weather. Join Doctor Bob Johnson from the Department of Agricultural and Biological Sciences, Truman State University for a fun fungus filled day at the park. This foray will focus on exploring the diversity of fungi that exists in the park. Attendees will collect specimens and then examine and talk about what they found. Wear appropriate attire for walking in the woods and bring a basket for collecting. Meet at the parking lot, next to the playground, across from the Redbud Trailhead.
