Fair Showcases Technology Use

The Teaching/Learning Technology Roundtable will sponsor the Fourth Annual Technology Fair on the afternoon of the University Conference.

All members of the Truman community are invited to the Tech Fair, which will take place from 2-4 p.m., Feb. 15, in the Student Union Building Activities Room. The purpose of the event is to provide insight on ways of integrating technology into the teaching and learning process.

Submissions to the TruTech Challenge will be on display at the Fair along with some of the newest technology-based resources available from Pickler Memorial Library.

Visitors can see and learn about a range of topics including:

-- using Blackboard for hosting course assessments and presentations
-- how to construct polished poster presentations
-- how students can use weblogs ("blogs") to facilitate their learning
-- using a student peer-reviewed electronic journal in your courses
-- implementing an online lab manual
-- nifty ways to incorporate video and dvd production into one's courses
-- how to produce online course demos and lectures
-- using technology to demonstrate the basic ingredients of a musical performance
-- how to "cue up" DVDs to play just the parts you want in class
-- how to use spreadsheets for the effective management of student organizations
-- the use of podcasting in an educational environment
-- Pickler Memorial Library's latest and greatest technology-based resources for the Truman community

This year, the latter portion of the TruTech Fair will be held in conjunction with the University Conference’s social hour, during which refreshments will be served.

The two grand prize Dell PDAs will also be awarded to the winners of the TruTech Challenge in a ceremony at about 3 p.m.
