Next STEP Office Accepting Applications for Undergraduate Research Conference

The National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) recently sent out a national call for proposals from students to submit abstracts and applications for the 23rd National Conference on Undergraduate Research to take place April 16-18, 2009, at The University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse.

Again this year, the Next STEP Office will be coordinating the application process for the Truman campus. Only abstracts submitted through this process will be eligible to receive funding from the University to attend the conference.

The Next STEP Office anticipates being able to send 50 students to the NCUR this year.

Truman students will use Truman’s online application at http://ncur.truman.edu to submit an abstract for consideration by Oct. 31.  Students may start submitting abstracts to Truman’s site immediately.

Each submission will be reviewed at the departmental level according to a process determined by the department.  Departmental reviews will be completed by Nov. 14 and students will have the opportunity to make recommended changes by this date.

Once the abstract is finalized and approved, the Next STEP Office will submit each approved student abstract to the NCUR for consideration by Dec. 1.

Questions about the process can be directed to Jennifer Thompson, administrative coordinator of the Next STEP Office, by e-mail at step@truman.edu.
