“Eradicating Peace: The Other Side of the Colombian War on Drugs”
7 p.m.
Oct. 17
Baldwin Little Theater
Leider Valencia is from the Campesino Coordination of Coca, Poppy and Marijuana Growers of Colombia (COCCAM) which emerged with the objective of promoting the implementation of a solution to the problem of illicit drugs from the peace accords in Havana. Valencia will discuss the grassroots efforts of Afro-Colombians, campesinos and Indigenous peoples working toward alternative sustainable development in areas hit hard by the internal armed conflict, fumigations and forced eradication/militarization, as well as how various forces threaten the Colombian peace process and how movements in the U.S. may contribute in defending it.

“Climate Anxiety and Global Hope”
7 p.m.
Nov. 7
Baldwin Little Theater
The news about the rapidly changing global climate can be overwhelming in its magnitude, creating what is called “climate anxiety.” While not discounting the severity and urgency of the situation, this presentation will address points of hope and possibility, followed by a panel discussion featuring local climate experts and activists to address strategies for combating climate anxiety and take action against climate change.
