The Multimedia Lab, located in Pickler Memorial Library 204, was closed June 27-29 so the staff could complete updates and renovations in the popular multimedia project lab.

The renovations include a new layout, new computers, updated software, high-fidelity microphone/speaker headsets and specialty scanners, in addition to the existing specialty hardware and software previously featured in the lab.

Adobe’s full eLearning suite is now available on both Mac and Windows systems for faculty creating multimedia learning objects for blended and online classes.

Students and faculty alike will appreciate the update to V6 for Adobe’s Creative Suite on both the Mac and Windows systems. The lab reopened and resumed regular summer hours June 30.

The Bulldog football team will play on national television as part of the NCAA Division II schedule of games on the CBS Sports Network.
 
Truman will face long-time MIAA rival the University of Central Missouri Sept. 20 in Warrensburg. It will be the 96th meeting between two founding members of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.

The MIAA is celebrating its centennial anniversary in 2012.

This will be the first appearance by the Bulldogs on the CBS Sports Network, which is available on most cable systems, Dish Network (Ch. 158) and Direct TV (Ch. 613).  

In addition to the national game, the Bulldogs will appear on the MIAA “Game of the Week” Oct. 6 when they travel to the University of Nebraska-Kearney to play the Lopers. That game may be found on various cable systems in Missouri and Kansas along with over the air station KSMO-TV in Kansas City.

Truman State University’s Department of Nursing is seeking re-accreditation by the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
 
An accreditation review has been scheduled in October 2012. Interested parties are invited to submit comments directly to CCNE. Written and signed comments will be accepted by CCNE until Sept. 15, 2012.

Student Affairs is looking for faculty and staff to volunteer to help students move in on Move-In Day Aug. 18. Volunteers will help unload cars and carry items to rooms. To sign up, contact the Student Affairs Office at 785.4111 or email bkral@truman.edu.

Vehicle registrations for parking permits are completed online via your TruView account. Log-on to your TruView account and select the “register your vehicle” link in the "update and view my personal information" section located in the lower right-hand corner.

Please verify your Truman address and phone. If changes need to be made to your campus address, faculty should send an email to kathyp@truman.edu. Staff address changes should be sent to mmcelroy@truman.edu or to Human Resources.

Since all registrations are “new” this year, select “New Registration” and complete all information about each vehicle you wish to register for a parking permit. Faculty and staff are allowed two parking permits. Each additional vehicle registration is $15 and will be billed to the TruView account. Payments are to be made at the Cashiers Window in McClain Hall.

Do not put new decals on an old parking permit. Please remove old parking permits.

AES Engineers will continue to provide $500 scholarships to high school seniors or college students, regardless of courses being studied, who meet certain criteria. Scholarships are intended for future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. Students must submit an essay in answer to one of the two questions that are posted online at aesengineers.com/scholarships.htm. Deadline for entry is Oct. 5.

Currently enrolled undergraduate college students are eligible to apply for the Foreclosure.com 2012 Scholarship Program. Students may go to foreclosure.com/scholarship to find out how to be entered to win one of five scholarships by writing an essay on stimulating the U.S. housing market. Top prize is $5,000, second through fifth place will receive $1,000 each.
Deadline to enter is Dec. 1.

Scott Alberts, professor of mathematics, has been appointed as interim director of Interdisciplinary Studies for a one-year period. His appointment began June 25. Alberts will report to Marty Eisenberg and will coordinate his activities on behalf of Interdisciplinary Studies with Eisenberg and Truman’s new provost, Joan Poor.

Nabil Alghalith, professor of business administration, had his manuscript entitled, “Reengineering with ERP: The Aramco Case” accepted for publication in the Journal of Strategic Innovation and Sustainability.

Erin Shaw, academic advisor, has been elected to the Missouri Department of Higher Education’s Committee on Transfer and Articulation (COTA) Advisory Committee. She will began her three-year term July 1. The Advisory Committee’s primary role is to review proposed revisions and initiatives to statewide transfer and articulation policies and to assess, evaluate and provide feedback on the feasibility of implementation of said proposals. Additionally, the Advisory Council will bring forward to COTA any issues or emerging trends that will affect the transfer of students and/or post-secondary credits between institutions in this state.

The Strategic Planning and Assessment Workshop will take place the mornings of Aug. 15-16. The afternoon of Aug. 15 will be reserved for school and/or department meetings.

ATSU-KCOM will host the Fourth Annual Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research Symposium from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 29. The conference will provide a venue for faculty, students and all those interested in biomedical research.
