The names of the graduates can be found online at truman.edu/honors/spring-2024-graduation-list. Students who graduated with honors will have that distinction noted by their names. Cum laude recognizes those who earned a grade point average of 3.50-3.74. Magna cum laude is for graduates with a grade point average of 3.75-3.89. Summa cum laude honors graduates with a grade point average of 3.9 or better.
 
Master’s degree recipients will have that distinction noted by their names.
 
The list is organized by state and hometown. Hometowns are based upon the permanent address given to the University by the student. Students who have requested a directory hold on their information will not be included on the list. Any questions regarding student eligibility for inclusion on the list can be directed to the Registrar’s Office at 660.785.4143.

Starting in July, the University Bookstore located in the Student Union Building will be under the direction of Barnes & Noble.
 
Earlier this year, Barnes & Noble College was selected as the University’s bookstore contractor for a five-year period. Truman joins a network of more than 1,400 schools with bookstores run by Barnes & Noble. The proposal from Barnes & Noble provided the best financial options for students while generating revenue and commissions for the Student Union Building.
 
The University Bookstore will be closed from June 27-July 7 in preparation for the transition.
 
Students enrolled in summer classes are being contacted via their Truman email for their textbook options, including using the online ordering option form Barnes & Noble.
 
For the fall term, operations regarding textbooks will remain unchanged. By fall 2025, Barnes & Noble plans to have everything in place for Truman to participate in its First Day Complete textbook program, which typically saves students 35-50% on the cost of their books. Details on the First Day Complete program at Truman will be shared as they become available during the year. An overview of the program can be found online.
 
Currently, the University Bookstore is offering sales on much of its existing inventory through June 26. Summer hours for the bookstore are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Through their Truman-sponsored internships at the Capitol in Jefferson City, students Santino Bono and Dylan Powers-Cody played a role in helping school districts across the state secure more than $1 million in federal funding.
 
Bono, who interned with Rep. Deb Lavender, and Powers-Cody, who interned with and Rep. Peter Merideth and Truman alumna Rep. Maggie Nurrenbern, spent a portion of the legislative session identifying school districts that had not yet claimed pandemic-era federal funds to assist homeless students. A comprehensive reporting of their work was recently published by the Missouri Independent, including the contributions of students from other institutions, as well as the direction of legislative assistant and Truman alumnus Dustin Bax.
 
This experience was made possible because Bono and Powers-Cody were among six Truman students who participated in the Missouri Government Internship Program during the spring semester. Open to all majors, this semester-long internship allows junior or senior students to participate in state government by serving as an intern with a legislator, public official or state agency. Interns earn up to 15 hours of college credit and receive a stipend from the University.
 
The Missouri Government Internship Program has special appeal for students anticipating careers in business, law, public relations, communication, government service or public affairs, and is filled with opportunities for a variety of career fields. Many former interns have gone on to serve as legislative directors, chiefs of staff, judicial clerks, policy analysts, lobbyists and public officials as a direct result of what they learned and the connections they made as interns.
 
Applications for the Missouri Government Internship Program open in the fall, with internships taking place in Jefferson City each spring. The application can be found on the Missouri Government Internship page of the Truman website. Informational meetings are conducted each fall. Students can also direct questions to mogovinternship@truman.edu.

Summer hours for the Student Health Center and University Counseling Services will be 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. An on-site nurse practitioner will be available Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Patients that walk-in on Mondays and Thursdays will be offered to go to the main location at 1611 S. Baltimore Street, or go through Urgent Care. All students in need of financial assistance are encouraged to complete the FAFSA. Federal Student Aid is the largest provider of financial aid for college students in the United States. Even though a student may not qualify for grants or work-study, all students are considered for the Federal Direct Loan (no co-signer required). Filing the FAFSA does not commit students to taking a loan, but it does allow for more options.

The 2024-2025 FAFSA requires students to report income and tax information from an earlier tax year. For the 2024-2025 FAFSA students will use their 2022 tax information. Details about the FAFSA can be found online at studentaid.gov.

Several Missouri organizations will host free in-person and virtual FAFSA assistance drop-in sessions this summer to help students complete or correct their FAFSA. The Missouri College and Career Attainment Network will host virtual sessions from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday evenings through July 31. They will also host in-person sessions in the Kansas City metro area from 5-7 p.m. Monday evenings from June 3-July 31.

The Missouri College Advising Corps College Connections Center will host virtual sessions from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday afternoons through Aug. 7. They will also host in-person sessions from 1-4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at various locations throughout June and July. A list of walk-in locations can be found here. With the recent sale of the Bank of Kirksville, Equity Bank has indicated the routing number for Bank of Kirksville customers must be updated to Equity Bank’s routing number.

The University performed this update automatically for all faculty, staff and students with Bank of Kirksville accounts used for Accounts Payable payments (such as travel expense reimbursements) and direct deposit of payroll.

As long as the account number remains the same as part of the transition to Equity Bank, it is not necessary to call in order to update the routing number. Customers issued new account numbers as part of the transition will need to contact Payroll and Accounts Payable to update their account information.

This automatic update will not cover refunds issued through Student Accounts. Students receiving refunds to a Bank of Kirksville account will need to update their routing number and, if applicable, their account number, through the Student Account Suite on the Student Finance Section in TruView prior to the Aug. 30 deadline.
