Annelli Launches Expanded, Fully Accessible Digital Textbook
Carlo Annelli, assistant professor of Italian, has completed a revised and expanded Second Edition of his textbook, “Figurati! An Economical Approach to Elementary Italian.”
Annelli re-engineered the textbook as a fully-fledged Accessible Rich Internet Application (ARIA) designed to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Version 2.1, Level AA. The responsive web application adapts to a wide array of modern device types and screen sizes, with dark mode functionality and a user interface control that cycles through four distinct font sizes to enhance legibility. The site offers expanded, interactive banks of exercises designed to provide instantaneous feedback with meticulous scaffolding. Students of ITAL 101 and 102 are provided site accounts to access the textbook for free.
