Morris Goes Back-To-Back on Athlete of the Week Honors
Jacob Morris has now won consecutive Great Lakes Valley Conference Field Athlete of the Week honors after breaking a second school record at the Southwest Baptist Invite in Bolivar, March 31.
Morris shattered the 1994 hammer throw record of Geoff Heskett (57.36m) by throwing 60.01 in the event. That mark gave him a third-place finish in the meet to go along with a personal best mark in the javelin (57.45m), a fifth-place finish in the shot put (16.04m) and a gold medal in the discus (54.14m).
In the GLVC, Morris is ranked first in both the discus and javelin, second in the hammer and fourth in the shot put. He is leading Division II in the discus and is seventh in the hammer. This is the fifth GLVC Athlete of the Week award, and fourth this academic year, for Morris.
