Faculty, Staff Collaborate on “Odyssey” Library Exhibition
A new exhibit showcasing Homer's "Odyssey" is on display now through Sept. 26 on the first floor of Pickler Memorial Library.
Inspired by the summer blockbuster epic film "The Odyssey" by Christopher Nolan, the exhibit features various dimensions of the ancient epic, including its notable texts and translations, its place in the history of the ancient Aegean and archaeology and its modern adaptations in books, film, TV, comics, games and toys. It seeks to demonstrate the myriad ways that the "Odyssey" has captured the imagination of artists, including Nolan, and continues to be reinterpreted for new generations of readers.
Amy Norgard, associate professor of classics, and Josh Nudell, assistant professor of history, collaborated with library staff members Tricia Mullanix, administrative assistant, Chrissy Hicks, research and instruction librarian, and Janet Romine, dean of libraries and museums, on the exhibit.
