Kick-off Honors Missouri Athletes Competing in Special Olympics USA Games

A kick-off event for Missouri athletes competing at the Special Olympics USA Games will take place at 7 p.m. June 18 in Pershing Arena.

The Special Olympics USA Games take place every four years, bringing thousands of athletes, coaches and spectators across all 50 states together for a variety of sporting competitions. The 2026 games, hosted by the University of Minnesota, will take place June 20-26. Additional information about its events can be found at 2026specialolympicsusagames.org.

To be selected for Team Missouri, individuals must have earned a gold medal in their sport of choice the year prior to selection camp. Athletes must also attend selection camp where they are selected for Team MO Magic.

The community is invited to attend the kick-off event in honor of the Team MO Magic athletes competing at the USA Games. Attendees can expect a parade and introductions of athletes, video messages and cheers from SOMO supporters and entertainment from magician and comedian Magic Amanda.
