Mathis Lays Claim to Two Records; Others PRs in So Cal Meets

Addie Mathis now holds two Truman Outdoor Track and Field records and all five Bulldogs achieved personal bests as the group competed in meets in Southern California, April 17-20.
Mathis first laid claim to the 800-meter run at the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azuza Pacific University, April 17. Mathis ran 2:10.69, which was not better than her indoor time record of 2:10.40 but better than Sophie Oxandale’s 2:11.38 clocking during the outdoor season of 2023.
Lexy Henrikson also crossed in a PR time of 2:13.42 in the event, shaving just under a second off her previous best. Raina Baker (2:16.04) and Lydia Lehmbeck (2:19.22) were also in heats of the 800.
Evan Aubuchon got a PR in his 1500-meter run, April 18. He edged out his previous time of 3:57.35 by going 3:57.21 in the race. In the other early running of the 1500, Lehmbeck achieved her best time by three seconds with a time of 4:45.47.
A short hour drive south to Long Beach State University gave Baker her PR in the 400-meter dash. She circled the track in 58.64 bettering her previous time of 58.97.
Returning north to APU, Mathis and Henrikson were in one of the main 1500-meter runs. Mathis surpassed Henrikson’s record of 4:30.64 but going 4:28.52 in the race. Henrikson finished in 4:34.51.
