Jennifer Coolidge, an English major from Grayslake, Ill., and 15 other volunteers left for China in June. They have made a two-month long commitment as WorldTeach volunteers to teach English to students in Hunan Province. WorldTeach volunteers in the China Summer Program teach in secondary school-based summer English camps in Hunan Province. The program is designed to bring native English speakers to teach students from all socioeconomic levels. Having native speakers teach English to students helps to increase opportunities for Chinese citizens and make them more active participants in the world community.
