Volleyball Team Second in the Nation

The Truman volleyball team brought home second place in the division after a tough loss to tournament host Barry University (Miami Shores, Fla.). This was the team’s second trip in three years to the NCAA Division II Championship game.
Truman had knocked off the undefeated and first-ranked team in the country, the University of Nebraska at Kearney, to reach the championship game.
As the third-ranked team in the country, Barry defeated the second-ranked Bulldogs by a 25-30, 30-21, 30-25, 30-24 score. After Truman won a close game one, Barry used a strong front row game and strong serving to take control of the match, winning the next three games.
The match was the final one for four Bulldog seniors: Jessica Sears, Lauren Dickbernd, Annie Nickolai and Rebecca Knefelkamp. The four players led Truman to a 133-17 record during the past four years, including two NCAA runner-up finishes. Sears, Graham and Shearman were named to the Elite Eight all-tournament team.
